Before coming to Sheridan, Ken Reiter was a teacher and dean of students in Chicago, Illinois. He was also principal at Casey Junior High School in Boulder, Sinclair Middle School in Englewood, and assistant principal at Cherry Creek. Ken Reiter became the principal of Sheridan High School in the fall of 1986. He served as principal until 1989.
He then moved into district administration as Executive Director
of Instruction and Support Services. After two years, he was promoted
to the Assistant Superintendent. In 1993 he was promoted to Superintendent.
Reiter said "I see my efforts in supporting the educational
vision of the district slogan (Educational Vision: Traditional
Values) in regard to the ways in which we will build upon the
good programs that we have, despite the limited resources we have,
and we can compete with districts with more money." He was
Superintendent until 2000. He retired in order to spend more time
with his family.
