Kurt Wollenweber is a third generation Colorado native. His grandparents came to Colorado before 1900. Kurt is the son of Arthur and Louann Wollenweber. Kurt was one of sixteen Sheridan students that came back over the years to teach at Sheridan High School. Kurt graduated from Sheridan in 1978. He was all state in baseball in his junior and senior years. And, he was all state in football in his senior year. Kurt was the Valedictorian of his class.
Kurt attended the University of Northern Colorado and earned his Bachelor's degree in English and Physical Education. After obtaining his degree, he went to work as a Physical Education teacher at Green Acres Elementary in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Later he taught English at Fort Morgan High School. During that period he was an assistant coach in football and basketball. In 1985 and 1986 he was the head baseball coach.
He returned to Sheridan in 1986 and taught English and Physical Education. He was an assistant coach in football and was the head coach for baseball. Later he became the Athletic Director and in 1995 became the Assistant Principal. While Assistant Principal, Kurt obtained his Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Colorado at Denver. In the fall of 2000, he became the Principal. He was the Principal at Sheridan for three years.
In 2003, Kurt left Sheridan to become the Assistant Principal
at Grandview High School in the Cherry Creek School District.
In July, 2007 he was promoted to Principal of Grandview. He was
the Principal at Grandview for six years. In 2013, he retired
but shortly thereafter was hired part time as the Concurrent Enrollment
Coordinator for the Cherry Creek School District and is in that
position at the current time.
Webmaster Note. Kurt was the Sheridan Celebrates Parade Grand Marshal in 1995 along with his father Arthur, Avonel Mitchell and Jim Dorsey. The theme was "Family Ties II."
