Mr.
Romero was born and raised in Nayarit, Mexico until he was 10
years old. His whole family then moved to Holland, Michigan.
In high school, he was an outstanding student that received a
full scholarship to attend Hope College. Even though he had a
scholarship, Diego still worked while he was in college as an
Administrative Assistant/Security Officer. He also received training
as a Personal Banker and was a Customer Service Representative
for two years.
He received his Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction
from the University of Colorado at Denver. He continued his education
at the University of Northern Colorado in Educational Leadership
and Policy Studies. He obtained his Principal licensure certificate
from the University of Denver. Again, he continued working during
his post graduate studies.
His educational experience started with teaching Spanish.
Later he was a Student Advisor, Adminsitrative Assistant, English
Language Acquisition (ELA) teacher & leader, and Assistant
Principal all in Denver Public Schools. He most recently was
an elementary school Principal in the Adams County School District
14 in Commerce City.
In his spare time, Mr. Romero enjoys playing tennis, running,
spending time with his family and being outdoors. He is married
and has a one-year-old.
