Gionni Thompson

Gionni has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Pheonix, and a Doctorate degree in Education from the University of Colorado.
He
was a chemistry teacher and later a Dean of Students in Aurora
Public Schools. He became an Assistant Principal at Montbello
High School. Next he was a principal at Lester Arnold High School,
an alternative high school in the Adams 14 School District. And
later principal at Adams City High School. He was elevated to
Executive Director of Secondary Schools for the Adams 14 School
District. That was followed by a promotion to Chief Operating
Officer for the Adams 14 School District.
After eighteen years in the public education sector he became the Chief Education Officer for the Living Closer Foundation in Greenwood Village. After three years he returned to public education as the Executive Director of the East Network of the Boulder Valley School District. A position that oversaw sixteen schools in the district. In July of 2024 he became the tenth Superintendent of the Sheridan School District.
In 2006 as a chemistry teacher at Aurora Hinkley High School he became the first winner of the DIY Network's "Stud Finder" contest "for a television ready do-it-yourself enthusiast." He hosted "Finished in 48" a five-part docudrama show completing a renovation project in just 48 hours.
Gionni is a Colorado native is "the fifth of six kids born in Colorado to an Italian immigrant mother and an African American father." "As a child, I witnessed firsthand the barriers my family faced in accessing a formal education. Seeing this, I developed my commitment to ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background, has access to the life-changing power of education and the ability to fulfill their aspirations and dreams."
"Over the years, [Dr.] Thompson has led various after-school programs aimed at helping students develop their skills outside the classroom. From writing workshops to science fairs, he encourages students to explore their passions and cultivate their talents. His efforts have not only inspired students to excel academically but have also fostered a strong sense of community among peers."
Gionni is married and has three children.
