Michele Kelley is originally from San Antonio, Texas. Michele obtained her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She obtained her Masters Degree in Special Education and Teaching from the University of Northern Colorado. She received her principal license from the University of Denver and completed the Turnaround Principal program through the University of Virginia. Prior to coming to Sheridan, Michele was the principal at Crossroads Alternative School in the Adams Twelve Fire Star School District.
Michele was instrumental in changing and improving the culture at Sheridan. Michele had two very significant accomplishments at Sheridan. First was the Big Brother and Sisters Mentor 2.0 program. "This matches students from Sheridan High School with college educated mentors and provides them with the support and guidance they need to graduate high school and succeed in college and the workforce. The program is so successful it has been expanded to Englewood and Colorado Springs.
Michele provided great leadership in getting Sheridan High School off the state accountability clock. In 2014, Sheridan High School was successfully moved from Priority Improvement to Improvement by the State Board of Education. This effectively removed the high school off the accountability clock. In 2016 Sheridan High School moved from Improvement to Performance," which helped move Sheridan School District 2 off of the state accountability clock.
During Micheles tenure four students earned their Associates weeks prior to graduating from high school. One of those students graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder and is employed by Microsoft as a Software Engineer. The other three are attending the University of Colorado, Boulder and the Colorado School of Mines respectively.
After Sheridan, Michele returned to Texas to be closer with
her parents. Michele is currently the Director of Extended Learning
for the San Antonio Independent School District where she oversees
After School Programming, Summer School, Adult Education, Community
Education and GED.
