Sheridan High SchoolNew: October 29, 2021 |
Sheridan High School Annuals (yearbooks) were published beginning with the first school year ending in the spring 1953 through school year ending in the spring of 2019. A total of 67 years. There were no annuals published for 2020 and 2021 because of Covid restrictions. There are two significant collections of Sheridan High School Annuals. The Sheridan Public Library does not have a collection of high school annuals.
The first collection is maintained at the high school library. The library has printed annuals for all years except for 2009, 2016, and 2018. Access to this collection is restricted and the annuals are locked up at all times. Annuals can be viewed in the high school libary by making an appointment with the libarian Jennifer Alevy. Jennifer can be reached by email at Jennifer Alevy or by calling (720) 833-6765. Annuals can not be removed from the library. Your visit will be supervised and monitored.
The second collection is maitained by the Sheridan Historical Society. The society has a total of 52 annuals from 1958 through 2019. Missing years include: 1953 through 1957, 1959, 1962, 1963, 1978 2002, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2016, and 2018. Access to this collection is also restricted. Annuals in this collection can be viewed by appointment with Roger Rowland. Roger can be reached by email at Roger B. Rowland or by calling (303) 881-2463. The appointment can be held at the Sheridan Public library and any mutually agreed location. Like the library your review of the annual is supervised in his presence. The society began their collection several years ago and it was increased significantly just within the last year. See the following donation story. Between this donation, other donations, and purchases the society collection was boosted to 52 annuals.
"Accolades and a big thank you to Charlotte Axtell Blair from the Class of 1965 on her wonderful donation of thirty-seven (37) high school annuals to the Sheridan Historical Society. Some of them originally came from the Stanfield family. A special thank you to Gordon Stanfield who was smart enough to save many others from being discarded in the move of the public library from the high school to their own building in 2014. Another thank you to Lorraine Spreadborough, also from the Class of 65 for connecting Charlotte with the Historical Society.
Because of duplications in the existing Historical Society collection. Nine annuals were returned to the high school for missing years in their collection. That leaves the high school with only three missing years. The current staff at the high school are keenly aware of the significance of their annuals collection as they are now kept locked up with controlled access. The Historical Society collection was boosted from 23 to 39 annuals. Plus nine more they got from extras at high school in exchange the nine mentioned above.
This donation of these annuals have an estimated cash value over $1,600. The historical value is much higher! This will go down as one of the most significant donations in the thirty-year existence of the Sheridan Historical Society."
Sheridan High School annuals are hard go get. On occasion an annual can be purchased from sources on the Internet. They can range in price from $20.00 to over $100.00 depending on the year and the source. There are only four annuals that have been digitized and are available on Classmates.com from the late seventies. It is a future goal of the Historical Society to digitize all Sheridan High School annuals.
If you have an annual for missing years at the high school or the Historical Society, please let us know. We are happy to add them to our collections.
