Picture of Marco VasquezChief Vasquez was appointed as Chief of the Sheridan Police Department effective May 1, 2008. This was after a 33 year career with the Denver Police Department. Chief Vasquez began his law enforcement career as a Denver police cadet and rose through the ranks to Deputy Chief. As Deputy Chief, Chief Vasquez administered the budget, human resources and training functions, as well as the Volunteer in Policing program.

During his career with the DPD, Chief Vasquez served as a district commander, commander of the Internal Affairs Bureau and has extensive experience in administration, patrol operations and criminal investigations. Chief Vasquez pioneered the development and implementation of many community policing programs while on the Denver Police Department. His guiding philosophy focuses on community partnerships and problem-solving to enhance the quality of life in Sheridan.

Chief Vasquez received a Master's degree in Management from Regis University and is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum's Senior Management Institute in Policing. Chief Vasquez serves on the board of the Colorado Regional Community Policing Institute, he represented the Sheridan Police Department on the Metropolitan Denver Region the Colorado Chief's Association, and is a member of the Sheridan School District Safety Task Force.

After Sheridan, Marco became a Colorado state medical marijuana investigator. In 2013 he became the police chief in Erie, Colorado. He finally retired in 2016.
