Edmund H. Klocker was born on May 8, 1940 in Burlington, Colorado, the son of Marcus A. Klocker and Catherine Reedy. He was the third of six children. He attended school in Parker at "The Abbey" and Cherry Creek High School. He served in the Army and was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany.
On
June 3, 1961 he was married to Elizabeth "Biz" Ann Raugh
in St Mary's Church in Littleton, Colorado. He worked as a journeyman
pipe fitter for Stearns-Roger. He advanced to foreman of quality
control and check out. In 1983 the company closed their fabrication
shop, and he and his wife bought Tri-Town Rentals in Dacono, Colorado.
While co-owner of the rental business, he also worked for Trend
Fuel as a fitter and safety man. They bought their home in Sheridan,
Colorado on West Milan Avenue in 1976.
Ed was appointed to the Sheridan Board of Education on January 8, 1980. He was subsequently elected as the President of the board on May 5, 1981 and held that position until May, 1991. From May until his death he served as the Vice President of the board. He was active on the Colorado Association of School Board and had been appointed to the Colorado Federal Relations Commission.
Ed was appointed in 1983 by Governor Richard Lamm to full second three year term on the State Accountability Committee. The eighteen member committee serves in an advisory capacity to the State Board of Education. He served as the President of the State Accountability Committee in 1986.
He campaigned for a successful bond and mill levy increase for school facilities. "He was an advocate for sequential curriculum study for students and supported programs that enhanced educational opportunities for students in the district. Ed was an avid hunter. He hunted with his sons and a group of friends collectively known as the "Clutch."
Ed passed away on October 11, 1991 in Swedish Hospital from
cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughter
Connie Horton, sons Robert, Charles, Bryan (deceased 2012), and
two grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers Mark and David,
and one sister Callista Pontious. Ed is buried at Fort Logan National
Cemetery.
