Margaret Mary Fitzgerald of Littleton passed away on January 25th
at age 90. Margaret was born in December 1924 in Aurora, NE, to
Joseph & Marie Schneider. She grew up with brothers Leo,
Bernard, Bob and Jim, graduating from Aurora High School in 1942.
Margaret went to nursing school at Creighton University, graduating
in 1945.
She moved to Denver, working as a nurse at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital where she met Martin (Marty) Fitzgerald, Jr. They married on June 12th, 1948. She went on to work for over 45 years as a Nurse or Nursing Home Administrator.
Margaret was known for her charitable work, winning the hearts of many as she handmade quilt blankets and knitted articles for several groups supporting the poor and spent more than her fair share at the Dollar Tree for children's supplies. For her work, she received a 'Service to Mankind Award' from Sertoma International in 1994 and a Channel Seven News 'Everyday Hero' award in 1999. Margaret was also known for her prowess at Bridge, playing weekly and always willing to organize a game.
Preceding her in death were spouse Marty Fitzgerald, brothers Leo, Bernard and Jim and Niece Barbara Rietz-Schneider. She is survived by her three sons, David & spouse Cher (Greeley), Michael & spouse Mary (Windsor) & Robert and spouse Laura (Kansas City); Grandchildren Michael & spouse Angie (Phoenix), Kristen & spouse James (Laramie), Patrick (Denver) Ken Rodman Kevin Rodman and Kelly Rodman (Kansas City), Great Grandchildren Haley and Braden (Phoenix, AZ) and Christina (Kansas City); Brother Bob & spouse Eunice (Aurora, NE); Sister in Law Margaret Schneider; Nieces & Nephews; Martin David, Karen, Greg, Donna, Brad, Patrick and Tim Fitzgerald, Lorraine Carlton, Kathy Dutton (Oklahoma City), Joe (Windsor), John, Eddie (Maryland), Kevin (Lincoln) Lisa, Jeff , Jason, (Aurora), Thomas (Jacksonville), David & Michael (Grand Island) Schneider, Rose Larson and Patty Campbell (Aurora).
